Lines and spaces
Written music sits on a staff: five lines with four spaces between them. Higher on the staff = higher on the piano.
The treble clef marks notes for the right hand. Spaces spell F-A-C-E from the bottom. Lines are E-G-B-D-F ("Every Good Boy Does Fine"). Middle C floats just below on its own short line.
